VALCELLINA AWARD WINNERS /
I VINCITORI DEL PREMIO VALCELLINA
The 24th of March 2012 the Valcellina Award second jury met in Maniago.
The following jury members were present:
Andrea Bruciati –-art historian and curator
Anna Galtarossa - artist
Daniel Gonzales - artist
Renata Pompas - Digital Textile Design Course director, AFOL Moda, journalist, essayist
Lydia Predominato - fiber artist, fiber art event maker and curator
A first selection of the works was held on 14 January 202 considering
the photographic documentation sent by 81 artists from 20 different
countries: Canada, France, Germany, Hungary,Japan, India, Latvia, Lithuania, Israel, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, UK, USA, Taiwan, Turkey, Venezuela.
24 candidates were selected.
Considering the proposed theme, 'Mixing Cultures', the jury has assigned the following prizes:
The 1st prize goes to KIRSTIE MACLEOD (UK), along with a scholarship at Koefia Haute Couture and Art of Costume Academy, Rome, for respecting the Award theme, the consistency with the conceptual developement of her work, and the strong preformative impact.
The 2nd prize goes to ZANE KOKINA (Lithuania), along with a scholarship at the Fine Arts Academy, Bologna, for the refined mixture of different idioms developed with a suggestive film-like narration.
The 3rd prize goes to ALLISON LYNN (UK), along with a scholarship at AFOL Moda, Milan, for the original representation of the interaction between two different (Japanese and English) cultures by means of an elegant manipulation of the different matters and techniques
The Calimala Prize, offered by Main Street s.r.l., goes to MILENA GABRIJELCIC, (Italy) as an incentive to artistically develop her
young creativity.
A honourable mention was given to the following artists:
REGINA DEGIORGIS JIMENEZ (Spain), MARIKO KOBAYASHI (Japan), SANTANU DAS (India)
The jury assigns a special mention to the Textile Culture Course of the Bologna Fine Arts Academy for their highly qualified continued work in promoting textile art. The Academy participates with three selected artists.

Il 24 marzo 2012 la seconda giuria del Premio Valcellina, composta da:

Renata Pompas - direttore del corso Digital Textile Design, AFOL Moda, giornalista, saggista
Lydia Predominato - fiber artist, ideatrice e curatrice di mostre Fiber Art
ha deliberato, tenendo conto del tema proposto ‘Mixing Cultures’, i seguenti premi:
1° Premio a KIRSTIE MACLEOD con borsa di studio presso Accademia d’Alta moda e del Costume Koefia di Roma, per l’aderenza al tema proposto, la coerenza nello sviluppo concettuale dello stesso e il forte impatto performativo.
2° Premio a ZANE KOKINA con borsa di studio presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, per la raffinata commistione di linguaggi, sviluppata con una suggestiva sequenza narrativa cinematografica.
3° Premio a ALLISON LYNN con borsa di studio presso AFOL Moda di Milano, per l’originale rappresentazione della interazione tra due diverse culture, giapponese e inglese, attraverso una elegante manipolazione delle diverse materie e tecniche.
Premio Calimala, offerto da Main Street s.r.l., a MILENA GABRIJELCIC come incoraggiamento e stimolo alla prosecuzione del percorso artistico.
Sono stati segnalati con una menzione speciale i seguenti artisti: REGINA DEGIORGIS JIMENEZ, MARIKO KOBAYASHI, SANTANU DAS
La giuria ha ritenuto anche di assegnare una menzione speciale al Corso di Cultura Tessile dell’ACCADEMIA DI BELLE ARTI DI BOLOGNA, da cui provengono 3 artiste selezionate, per la qualità del lavoro di promozione dell’arte tessile che conduce da anni. |
